Cravia Make the Impossible Possible at 2017 Kick-Off with ‘Mission Possible’

The Cravia family gathered together to ‘Kick-Off’ 2017, reflecting on successes from the past year, and look forward to all the opportunity presented by the coming year. A packed event saw 140 people attend at The Ritz Carlton JBR on 10th December 2016, with guests including representatives from Cravia and Fajr Capital senior management, Cravia Operations team and Cravia business partners and sponsors.
Louay Gandhour, CEO of Cravia, opened the event speaking about its ‘Mission Possible’ theme, and how it represented the ‘no boundaries’ approach that the company takes to business. He compared the Cravia journey to an exploration, with its next phase to take the company beyond its normal environment and explore new worlds. He explained how the company continuously strives towards improvement and how the ‘Kick-Off’ sub-themes- ‘Standout 2.0’ and ‘Time to believe’ – fit perfectly with Cravia’s culture.
Walid Hajj, Executive Chairman of Cravia, took the stage talking about the direction of the company being one of growth. He outlined how Cravia’s journey partner is ‘Fajr Capital’, which will provide the help and support to grow Cravia’s business to the next level. Walid went on to discuss how he wants to double the number of stores in five years, and to become the #1 restaurant operator within their respective markets. A number of successes were recounted, including the Five Guys stores in KSA grabbing global attention, Zaatar w Zeit being a rising star in KSA and a beloved UAE brand, and the expansion plans for Cinnabon.
Iqbal Khan, Fajr Capital CEO spoke about the advantages of investing in Cravia group at an important stage in the company’s growth trajectory. He went on to explain how they look forward to expanding Cravia’s business across multiple markets.
Mahmoud Harb, Director of Operations discussed how the new Zaatar w Zeit menu launch was a success that was welcomed cheerfully by customers representing 15% of total sales since the first week of launching. He also thanked Lebanon Head Office for supporting the UAE team’s launch of Zaatar w Zeit’s new menu, and went on to point out how the brand has risen to become a favourite in the Middle East region.
Marwan Kandeel, Multi Brand Manager outlined Cinnabon and SBC results in 2016. He explained how a number of openings were completed on time and within budget, and looked forward to a number of key projects in place for a better 2017. He outlined the first Cinnabon store outside the USA featuring its fresh new brand and image, in Abu Dhabi Marina Mall. He also discussed current and future plans for delivery service providers across the UAE and the Best International Operations Award by Focus Brands. Marwan outlined a Cinnabon Gift cards plan which will be launched in May 2017, as well as The Cinnabon Jars.
Moussa Tarhini, Zaatar w Zeit Brand Manager KSA enthused about the achievements for Zaatar w Zeit KSA, including sales, a mystery shopper initiative and ROR growth, the opening of two new stores and the launch of delivery opportunities for a number of outlets. Looking forward, he outlined comprehensive plans for 2017, including the opening of five new outlets in King Abdullah, Khobar, Faisaliya, Dammam and Al Hamra, in addition to the launch of a number of new menu items.
Chadi El Badawi, Five Guys Senior Operation Manager for KSA explained the Five Guys journey in 2015, including the opening in Mateen of what was the biggest Five Guys in the world. He went on to outline how the company had a broken a world record for first day sales during its Khobar opening- a title that it still holds. The latest store at Boulevard was also mentioned, as well as the first birthday of Mateen on 9th December.
Cravia’s annual Kick-Off event is the perfect opportunity to show how teamwork really can generate fantastic results. It allows the company to celebrate the achievements and also to look to the future with enthusiasm.
